DESCRIPTION IN THE ITINERARY
DAY 1
Cusco – Mollepata – Soraypampa
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco very early in the morning and take ou to by bus to Mollepata. In Mollepata we will stop for breakfast. Next we will meet out horses and begin the trek. After about 3 hours of walking we will stop for lunch. Then we will continue walking towards our first camp at Soraypampa (3,850m). We will eat dinner and spend the night at the campsite .Total distance 10km (approximately 5 hours walking).
DAY 2
soraypampa- huaytac- collpapampa
is a challenging day. After breakfast, we will trek to the highest point of the trail where we will take in the unbelievable panoramic view of the whole area and will observe different types of microclimates. After 3 hours of walking you will reach the first pass, named Salkantay (4,600m). Here, you will have a tremendous feeling of achievement mixed with the relief of reaching the top. After lunch you will continue you walk down to Challway (2,900m) where we will camp and have dinner.DAY 3: Challway - La Playa (Sawayaco) - Santa Teresa
After breakfast start the descent towards Collpabamba hot waters (hot springs) , here you can take a bath, in medicinal waters, it is over 40 grades of temperature (optional ), this zone is called Cloudy Jungle, here we will observe waterfalls, fruit-bearing trees, variety of flora, up to coming to the zone named The Beach where we will have lunch. After a brief rest we will continue our trek observing great variety of orchids. We will continue in terrestrial transport in 45 minutes up to the Holy zone of camp Teresa (1650 m.s.n.m.). DAY 3
Challway – La Playa (Sawayaco) – Santa Teresa
After breakfast start the descent towards Collpabamba Hot Springs, here you have the opportunity to bathe in the medicinal waters (the water temperature is over 40 degrees centigrade; bathing is optional). This zone is called Cloudy Jungle. We will observe waterfalls, fruit trees, a variety of flora as we approach our location for lunch called The Beach. After lunch and a brief rest we will continue our trek and we will see a great variety of orchids. Then we will continue in terrestrial transport for 45 minutes until we reach the holy zone of camp Teresa (1,650m) where we will eat dinner and stay the night.
DAY 4
Santa Teresa – Hidroeléctrica – Aguas Calientes
After breakfast at 8.00am we will walk for 1 hour towards the Oroya (transport by cables) to cross the river Urubamba. During the walk we will have the opportunity to observe the Machu Picchu in the distance. Then we will continue our trek to Hidroeléctrica, where we will have our lunch and we have a rest. At 3.40pm we will take the train to Aguas Calientes in order to arrive at 5.00pm. We will eat dinner and stay in a hotel in Aguas Calientes.
DAY 5
Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
On the last day we will have our breakfast very early, then we will take the first bus towards Machu Picchu, where the guide will provide an explanation of the site and its local importance. Then there is the opportunity to climb the mountain of Huayna Picchu (accessed from the main site of Machu Picchu). Next you will take the bus to Aguas Calientes where we will have lunch. In the evening we will take the train from Aguas Calientes to Cusco. Transfer from the train station to the hotel will be provided on your arrival in Cusco.
